Man Who Started Hopkins Fire Found Guilty, Could Face Over 20 Years in Prison

The man who was arrested and charged with the arson that started the Hopkins Fire was found guilty in Marin County Superior Court on Thursday. Devin Lamar Johnson, age 23, of Calpella, was convicted of arson of an inhabited dwelling, a felony. The jury also found the defendant was responsible for the burning of multiple homes. After the jury presented its verdict, a separate trial was conducted regarding a charge of attempted robbery in the second degree, just a few months before he set the Hopkins fire. The robbery charge was Johnson’s second strike, making the Hopkins fire his third. With that third strike, Johnson could be facing up to 21 years in prison.
