A reminder that both the Lakeport Police and the CHP will be increasing patrols over the Labor Day holiday, focusing on identifying drivers under the influence. Enhanced enforcement is expected to start today and last through late Monday. During last year’s Labor Day, 38 people were killed in crashes throughout the state, and nearly half of the vehicle occupants killed were not wearing a seat belt. CHP officers statewide made 1,064 arrests for driving under the influence.
