A high-speed chase through Mendocino and Sonoma counties over the weekend saw triple digits before a motorcyclist and rider were stopped. The pursuit began near Healdsburg when a CHP officer tried to stop a Suzuki street bike on northbound U.S. Highway 101. The rider and passenger failed to yield and took off at a high rate of speed. The rider was seen near Cloverdale and was picked up by a Sonoma Sheriff’s helicopter on the 101 just north of the Sonoma-Mendocino county line. The chase continued into Ukiah, where the rider then headed south on the 101, reaching speeds of 140 mph, with a helicopter still following. The abandoned bike was found in the Santa Rosa Plaza parking structure. The suspects were found and the rider was arrested.
