A vegetation fire along State Route 162 referred to as the Kelley Fire, burned on Saturday morning at just under an acre, sending up smoke that was visible from downtown Covelo and the smoke was picked up by ALERT California fire cameras on Anthony Peak, Panic Point, and Eden Valley. The fire burned on both sides of the highway and brought down powerlines on the roadway. SR162 had to be closed by CHP for a time due to the downed lines. The fire’s forward progress was stopped shortly after 11.
