Lawsuit Filed By Clearlake Against Highlands Water Co. Goes to Trial

The lawsuit filed by Clearlake against Highlands Mutual Water Company will go to trial this week. In the suit filed in June, the city requested records and a new election of district board members to be held. The suit names Highlands Mutual Water Company and each of its five board members, citing concerns about the ability of the company to provide reliable drinking water and fire flow protection. The City contends Highlands refused requests for records that it is entitled to under state corporation law. Highlands in return has filed its own complaint against the city of Clearlake, which has not yet been set for a hearing. The trial in the suit filed by Clearlake begins tomorrow at 9 am.
