Lake County plans to launch a study of the potential consequences of removing the Potter Valley Scott Dam. The study will cost roughly $700,000 and will be funded by a grant from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. The Lake County Board of Supervisors has concerns regarding the availability of drinking water and being able to adequately fight wildfires during a drought if the dam is removed. The goal of the study is to get an impartial picture of what the area would face if the project is completed.
