Judge Recommends CPUC Vote to Keep AT&T As Carrier of Last Resort

A judge has ruled that AT&T will have to continue as a carrier of last resort in the state, much to the relief of rural areas that depend on landlines.  Last year, AT&T applied to be relieved of that responsibility.  Last Friday, Thomas Glegola, the administrative law judge hearing the case recommended that the California Public Utilities Commission vote to dismiss the application, which could happen as early as mid-July.
