The Lakeport City Council has approved a new permit fee for fireworks sales. Lakeport is the only place in Lake County where safe and sane fireworks can be sold, and used in July. The City Council says the high cost of dealing with safe and sane fireworks each year and a new state law will mean a 2% surcharge or permit fee over and above the already standard 5% on the gross fireworks sales. All current permit holders were informed of the new fee and were invited to comment.
