Jobless Rate in Lake County Has Improved

The unemployment rate in Lake County has improved. The California Employment Development Department says Lake County’s March jobless rate was 6.6%, down from 7.2% in February and 7.4% in January. The March 2023 rate was slightly better, at 6.3%. Although the jobless rate is down, the report shows declines in jobs across the board, with only mining, logging, and construction as well as leisure and hospitality showing slight growth. In March, Lake County’s jobless rate ranked 35th out of the state’s 58 counties. Mendocino County, at 5.7%, ranked 27th in the state.
