Discussion Regarding Proclamation Postponed by Kelseyville Unified School District

A planned discussion about a proclamation regarding indigenous peoples was postponed by the Kelseyville Unified School District on Tuesday night. An overflow crowd was in attendance, due in part to concern over the language of an earlier version of the proclamation, which seemed to suggest support for changing the name of Kelseyville, which has caused pushback from the community. More than 100 people were present in the district office boardroom, which normally has a capacity for 35, with 30 more standing outside the building. The board voted to exclude the discussion from the evening’s agenda and reschedule for a later date.
