Death of Man in Lake County Declared Homicide, Family Questions Delay in Notification

The death of a man in Lake County last October has now been declared a homicide. MendoFever reports that 33-year-old Andrew Gurrola of Hidden Valley Lake was seen trying to flag down help as he walked along SR29 south of Lower Lake. By the time first responders arrived, Gurrola had died from his injuries. Initial reports said he was the victim of a hit-and-run, but there were also reports of gunfire being heard in the area just minutes before. As it turns out CHP shortly after the incident had changed Gurrola’s cause of death to a homicide, but did not provide updated details or send out a press release on the case due to the incident being under investigation. After learning the CHP had acknowledged that he had been murdered, a family member of Gurrola questioned why the family was not notified. Law enforcement is asking anyone with information on the incident to contact the Northern Division of the CHP.
