A Mendocino County Sheriff’s sergeant saved the life of a man attempting to hang himself off the Perkins Street Bridge on Monday. The sergeant, on routine patrol, observed the man tying a rope onto the railing of the bridge, placing the other end around his head and neck. The man had one foot over the railing and was leaning outward when the sergeant was able to pull him back in. The man was sent to Adventist Health Ukiah Valley and connected with mental health assistance.
