A man finally surrendered to police in Covelo after shooting the mother of his child with a shotgun. According to reports, the woman had an unserved order of protection against the man. The as of yet unidentified man shot the woman in the face, chest and groin, while holding his child, then called 911. The man continued to hold the shotgun officers arrived on the scene, saying he was concerned about her family members arriving. He surrendered to law enforcement and the child was taken to the hospital to be checked out. The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office said they’d provide a statement about the incident after gathering more details.
