The California Coastal Commission is fighting hard to block the Mendocino Railway’s plan to rehabilitate the rail line between Willits and Fort Bragg. The rehab would include rebuilding a collapsed tunnel on the line. MendoFever reports that at a hearing scheduled for tomorrow, the Commission will discuss a letter it plans to send to the US Department of Transportation, calling the actions by the owners of the Skunk Train highly unusual and not covered by the rules that govern the management of coastal zones, including considerable environmental threats to the wildlife of the area.
