The female pedestrian struck and killed while walking on Highway 20 over the weekend has been identified. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office says Marla Simone Shaffer was walking south across Highway 20 when she turned into the path of a westbound vehicle and was struck and killed. It is unclear why Shaffer turned into traffic, conditions at the time were dark and stormy. It is not known if there were any contributing factors to the accident.
