The Mendocino County Corrections Division has a new public information officer. Captain Greg Van Patten has served as the PIO for the County Sheriff’s office for more than a decade before being chosen to take the place of retiring Captain Joyce Spears. Van Patten has experience with behavioral health and is uniquely suited to handle the corrections position, which will include everything involved with the new jail build. Sheriff Matt Kendall says Lt. Quincy Cromer will be promoted to the rank of captain and will take over Van Patten’s role on the patrol and investigative side when he moves to the correctional side.
