There will be a hearing next week of the Lakeport Fire Protection District Board to consider increasing its mitigation fee. The fee, also known as a development impact fee, is a one-time charge imposed on new development. It’s meant to pay for public facilities needed to serve new development. The proposed fee would be $2 per square foot for residential development and $2.45 per square foot for commercial development. The fee would raise roughly $2.3 million over 18 years.
