California First State to Have “Ebony Alerts” for Missing Black Residents

A new law that creates a specialized alert has gone into effect. The “Ebony” alert draws attention to black individuals, especially women and children who go missing. This includes those who are at risk, developmentally disabled, cognitively impaired, or who have been abducted. California is the first state in the nation to have a law that combats the crisis of missing black women and children.
