A beach hazards statement is in effect for the Mendocino Coast starting Friday morning. Breaking waves as large as 20 feet are expected through tomorrow night. Remember sneaker waves can break across beaches, jetties and rocks and sweep someone into the sea. Those waves can also carry large objects that could crush someone. Never turn your back on the ocean.
