Mendocino County to Be Home to Power Storage Project

Mendocino County will soon be the home of a long-duration energy storage project, thanks to a $30 million grant from the California Energy Commission. The project, maintained by Form Energy, will be capable of generating 100 continuous hours of energy to the grid, being the largest “storage battery” of its kind in the state. The storage facility will be located at a PG&E substation in the county and is expected to begin operation by the end of 2025. The project is aimed at enhancing grid reliability in the state.
