An officer-involved shooting on Thursday has left one man dead in Lakeport. According to a press release, Mendocino County Sheriff’s officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Dixon Drive after reports of a knife assault. Deputies encountered a man wielding a firearm, and attempts to de-escalate the situation deteriorated and failed and the man was shot and killed. The sheriff’s office is working with the Lake County DA’s office to investigate as per the county’s Critical Incident Protocol. No other details regarding the incident have been released.
