Mendocino County Board of Supervisors Votes to Use Measure B Funds to Build Jail

There is forward movement on the new jail in Mendocino County.  MendoFever reports the County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to borrow $6.8 million in mental health taxes to build the new jail.  Measure B, the voter-approved mental health sales tax initiative has $6.3 million in unallocated funds and $5.8 million in its capital facilities prudent reserve.  Sara Pierce, the appointee who is supposed to replace Chamise Cubbison told the board the county’s credit rating could suffer, reducing its ability to attract further grant funding when needed.
