Late last week, representatives Mike Thompson and Doug LaMalfa announced that the bill to make the settlements paid from the PG&E Fire Victims Trust nontaxable passed through committee, moving one step closer to providing tax relief to those fire survivors. Representative Thompson said he is hopeful Congress will act quickly to pass it and that the bill will continue to be his top priority until it reaches President Biden’s desk and is signed.
