Lakeport City Council Meets tomorrow Evening, Will Name New Park

The Lakeport City Council meets a 7 p.m. tomorrow evening and will consider a name for the new park on Main Street. TheLakeCountyNews reports the proposed name is Xabatin (Ka-bah-ten), which means “Big Water”, the original Pomo name for Clearlake. The park is located on the former Natural High School location and was funded by a $5.9 million grant from the Proposition 68 State Parks and Water Bond. The chief of police will also give a report on the Lakeport town hall on homelessness and mental illness. The Assistant City manager will also update the council on issues related to the city’s fee program and the Utilities Director will ask for approval of a purchase agreement for a new sewer pump.
