At the most recent meeting of the Mendocino City Council, a contract was approved for the design of the fire station reconstruction. The project was aimed at rehabbing the buildings, but with construction costs rising, it was decided building two new structures would be more efficient. The North Wing of the fire station is to be designed for no more than $130,000, with funding for the design phase coming from Community Block Grant funds. The rest of the station will be designed as funding becomes available.
