The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has reported that a Lakeport man died Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash in the Cow Mountain Recreation area. William John Sappington was driving his sport utility vehicle on Trail 17, near Scotts Creek Road when it ran off the trail, down an embankment, and rolled a number of times. Sappington was pronounced dead at the scene.
