At last week’s meeting of the Lake County Board of Supervisors, the board authorized the county to apply for a competitive state grant to retrofit community centers for extreme weather condition relief and other emergencies. The county’s chief climate resiliency officer forwarded a plan that would utilize a pool of $5 million in state funding available in competitive grants. The $500,000 grant the county is applying for would be overseen by the California Strategic Growth Council and the California Department of Conservation.
