Willits Police Union Declares “No Confidence” in City Manager

In an emergency vote held yesterday, the Willits Police Department’s union has said it has no confidence in the City Manager’s ability to lead the city.  The president of the police officer’s union Britney Ponkivar has said that Brian Bender has opened the city to further liability, citing the number of women, including a former Willits police chief who have filed lawsuits against the city for misconduct raging from a hostile work environment to physical and sexual abuse.  The union contends that Bender has weaponized the probationary process, using it in a punitive fashion.
