Slide 1 Fire in Mendocino Nat. Forest Declared Contained

A fire caused by a lightning strike in the Mendocino National Forest is reported to be fully contained.  The Slide 1 Fire started on the 14th.  The fire that started 1.5 miles north of Mount Linn in the Yolla Bolly Middle Eel Wilderness burned just under 475 acres.  Crews worked yesterday to remove firefighting equipment, and a helicopter will patrol the area to check for hotspots.  The burned area remains closed and includes land within the Grindstone Ranger District, Ides Cove Backpacker Trailhead, Ides Cove Horsepacker Trailhead all roads leading to that area.
