Mendocino Man Accused of Murder in Nevada Dies

A Mendocino man being held for the kidnapping, sexual assault and murder of a teenage girl in Nevada has died. Troy Driver is accused of the murder of 18-year-old Naomi Irion of Nevada in 2022. Irion would be found buried in the western desert of Nevada, shot in the head and the chest. Driver had a substantial criminal record including the murder of a Willits drug dealer in the late 90s. Upon doing hourly checks on inmates in the Lyons County jail on Sunday, found Driver unresponsive in his cell. Deputies, medical staff, and EMS attempted CPR and then pronounced him deceased. Preliminary investigation suggests Driver committed suicide.
