After receiving a large number of reports of SNAP and CalWORKS EBT card skimming in June, the Lake County DA’s office has said investigators have removed several skimmers from local stores and investigators will continue to inspect point of sale locations for devices and will monitor EBT accounts for signs of unusual activity so that cards can be replaced and clients notified of the issue. July saw fewer incidents and recipients are reminded to be vigilant about watching card activity. If you believe your card has been compromised or you find a skimmer, contact the store manager and the County DA’s office.
