Changes in Statistical Reporting to Blame for “Uptick” in COVID-19 Deaths

A change in the way statistics are recorded is responsible for what seems to be an increase in deaths connected to COVID-19 in Mendocino County. In a press release, Public Health Officer Dr. Andy Coren says the state now counts deaths from the virus in the same way all other illnesses are counted and so a recount of past deaths are affected. Actual deaths from COVID over the last six months in the county have actually declined and remain low.
