Mendocino County is in danger of losing its credit rating with Moody’s Investor Service. MendoFever reports a Moody’ analyst requested public records of the fiscal audit for 2022 and the county did not respond by the deadline of June 30th. Without those documuents, Moody’s would have to consider placing the county’s rating under review. Treasurer Tax Collector Auditor Controller Chamisse Cubbison closed the Moody’s request on the 23rd of June, stating that the county’s outside audit firm had not completed the financial statement for that time period and therefore could not submit the requested reports. Moodys is one of three credit rating agencies that scores the counties financial strength.
