Governor Newsome late last week announced new investments to help communities increase their defenses against wildfires and improve evacuation routes for rural communities. $113 million in funding from the $52 billion California Climate Commitment will support 96 wildfire prevention projects across the state. According to TheLakeCountyNews, in Lake County, the Clear Lake Environmental Research Center will receive just under $1.8 million for the second phase of a hazardous fuels reduction project and the Lake County Resource Conservation District’s Tree Mortality Mitigation and Public Safety in Lake County projectwill receive almost $375,000.
