Fort Bragg has hired a new assistant city manager, Police Chief Neil Cervenka. During its regular meeting, the City Council approved the additional role with a 5% pay increase, sick leave, and a severance package. There has been some questioning of the move, both by the public and on the council. If City Manager Peggy Ducey cannot act as City Manager, Cervenka would fill in. At the vote, the council approved the contract with only one member voting no.
