Burning Trees Cause Fire Damage to Nearby Apartment Building in Ukiah

Burning Cypress trees near an apartment complex in Ukiah caused the evacuation of residents on Friday after the fire spread to the building on Friday afternoon. TheUkiahDailyJournal said Ukiah Fire Battalion Chief Justin Buckingham said 8 to 10 of the 40’ tall trees were on fire and spread to the building’s attic. Two units in the complex sustained moderate damage and two others were smoke damaged. Personnel from Cal Fire and the Redwood Valley and Hopland fire departments responded to assist. There were no injuries. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
