Lake County Forms Work Group To Address Threat of Algae Blooms Water Supply

Lake County has launched the first countywide and coordinated action plan to address heat events and harmful algae blooms. TheLakeCountyNews reports the Climate Health Adaptation and Resilience Mobilizing or CHARM for short, will be a work group of representatives from the community, including local tribal leaders, that will address the issue. Clearlake is the state’s largest freshwater lake, providing drinking water to 60% of Lake County residents and driving the local economy through recreation and tourism. In extreme heat events, heavy algae blooms threaten the water supply and those who depend upon it.
