U.S. Fish and Wildlife Denies Emergency Endangered Designation to Clear Lake Hitch

Although U.S. Fish and Wildlife has denied an emergency endangered species designation to the Clear Lake Hitch, the listing could still be granted after a species evaluation that will take two years to complete. The Lake County News reports Fish and Wildlife says it will assist in projects that support the Hitch as it works on the species evaluation. The Clear Lake Hitch has been listed as threatened since 2014 and a representative of the Center for Biological Diversity says its unfortunate that the situation with the Hitch is not seen as urgent.
