The owner of the Skunk Train has sold part of its properties to Sierra Northern Railway for $4.5 million. Sierra Northern is a sister company of the Mendocino Railway. Despite the sale, nothing has changed as far as who manages local operations. There is speculation that although spokespersons for the company have not yet clarified the purpose of the transfer. the sale is intended to affirm the company’s claim that the railroad is still a public utility, Records indicate the county did collect $2,200 in taxes connected to the sale.
