The sentencing hearing of a man found guilty of murder has been delayed. TheLakeCountyNews reports Tuesday, Nova Maye Deperna of Occidental appeared before the judge for sentencing in the murder of Ronald Melusa of Lucerne in 2021. Deperna’s attorney had reached a plea agreement with the DA for the murder and other crimes committed from July 2020 to February 2021, but Deperna contended in court that he took the plea under false pretenses, saying he didn’t commit the other crimes. The judge in the case, J. David Markham assigned Deperna a new public defender and set a new hearing for May 2nd. At that time, Deperna’s plea will be withdrawn or his sentencing will be rescheduled.
