A 4.4 magnitude earthquake that struck just inside the Sonoma County line last night was felt in Lake County. The LakeCountyNews reports the US Geological Survey said the quake occurred at 10:39 pm, 4.6 miles northwest of Cobb at a depth of six tenths of mile. Earlier on Tuesday, shortly after 4 p.m., there had been a 2.5-magnitude earthquake that occurred near Lake Pillsbury and due north of the area where the earthquakes near Cobb took place. Many residents say they were alerted by the USGS Shake Alert on their smart phones.
