The suspect in the case of an infant death and endangerment of a toddler has been deemed to competent to stand trial. The question of whether Edward Two Feathers Steele of Ukiah would be able to participate in his own defense was raised by his counsel in court in mid-February. Judge Victoria Shanahan ruled late last week that there is no reason to suspend the case. Steele will appear in court on April 28th to schedule his preliminary hearing, which may take place in early May.
