Law enforcement in Lake County is getting new radio equipment that allows for encryption of their transmissions. According to the LakeCountyNews, the move will put the county in compliance with state and federal policies. Encryption will modify radio traffic in such a way that a typical police scanner would not be able to pick up or monitor radio traffic of law enforcement agencies. Emergency services transmissions will not be affected and since the changes have begun, much of Lane County’s scanner traffic remains unaffected.
