Still Over 17,000 Ballots to Be Counted in Area Mid Term Elections

According to the Mendocino County Assessor-Clerk-Recorder, there are still over 17,000 ballots left to be processed and then counted after the mid-term elections. The DailyJournal reports the remaining ballots are vote-by-mail and provisional/conditional ballots.  Assessor Katrina Bartolomie says the process for counting ballots remains the same as it has for the past 18 years, and that this year the office is short-handed.  She also noted that, per State law, the office has 30 days to complete the canvass and certify the election. The Statement of Vote, which breaks down results by precinct, will be available at that time.
