Dungeness Crabbing Season Delayed for Second Time

Dungeness crab season has once again been delayed by California Fish and Wildlife. Earlier in the week, the announcement was made that whale migration was continuing in the area from the Sonoma/Mendocino County line south to the Mexican border. It’s the fourth consecutive year of delays to protect the humpbacks, and the second delay this season. Recreational crabbing has been allowed since the beginning of the month, but commercial crabbing will be delayed until December 16th and possibly later. According to the Oceana organization, the state has recorded a third whale caught in crabbing lines this calendar year.
