Senator Mike McGuire reports that the Federal Surface Transportation Board has rejected the Skunk Train company’s bid to take over 13 miles of the Great Redwood Trail. The UkiahDaily Journal reports the ruling will allow the Trail to begin breaking ground on the area and will ensure the former rail right of way remains in public ownership in perpetuity. The announcement comes as a town hall meeting scheduled for this evening at 6:30 is being held to review the Great Redwood Trail Master Plan.
