Overwhelmed Animal Shelter Managers Asking for Public’s Help

Due to a continued surge in animals being brought into local rescue facilities, care providers have to reevaluate their strategies to meet the community’s demand. The MendoVoice reports the Mendocino Coast Humane Society regularly operates in the red by $10,000 each month. This summer, Mendocino County Animal Care Services came closer to euthanizing animals for space than it has in years. The Humane Society for Inland Mendocino County is in the middle of a six-week suspension of new animal intakes. Shelter managers are asking the public to help wherever and however they can and, most importantly, be responsible pet owners.
