New Water Year Report Sees Preparedness and A Fourth Year of Drought

October 1st marks the beginning of a new water year in the area and Mendocino County is preparing for another dry year. The UkiahDailyJournal reports in the latest update from the Mendocino County Water Agency, local water managers are describing their outlook for the year. The city of Mendocino will promote strong conservation efforts and increased water storage. Fort Bragg reports their water supply is stabilizing, though the area is still under a stage 2 water warning. Ukiah says the city is prepared, producing 295 million gallons of recycled water this year, and is prepared to shift to meet demand. County officials report that with so many relying on Lake Mendocino for water supply, enforcement of a monthly limit on usage has helped maintain sufficient supply and quality over the past four years. However, all water district managers in the county agree that another year of drought will present a hardship and require conservation, proactive management, and other measures.
