Unemployment in Lake County was up slightly in August, following the trend state and nationwide. According to the Lake County News, The Employment Development Department said Lake County’s unemployment rate in August was 4.4%, up from 4.3% in July and 7.2% in August 2021. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports the national unemployment rate in August was 3.7%, up from 3.5% in July and 5.2% in August 2021. The state has now gained back 98.3% of the nonfarm jobs lost during March and April of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
