Ukiah City Council Hires Firm to Assist in Search for New Police Chief

The Ukiah City Council has approved the hiring of an outside agency to help search for a new police chief. According to the DailyJournal, the council approved hiring Mosaic Public Partners of Placeville to develop a candidate profile that reflects the community’s and the organization’s needs. Then, a targeted search will be undertaken based on that input, followed by an interview process. The city has had three police chiefs in the past four years, including Noble Waidelich, who replaced Justin Wyatt in 2021, only to be dismissed less than a year after his hiring for reasons that the city has yet to disclose to the public.
